Robin, does this help with the 'cookies' problem?

Well, if you mean does all this reading material distract me from my cookies problem, then YES, it definitely helps! I have had cookie problems before in life, but it usually involved eating too many snickerdoodles. Don't know a thing about cookie problems on the computer, so I will just live with it and never get to watch another replay on thinkdraw! Ah, well, there are certainly more pressing problems than that in life, I suppose.

Probably I should post my problem in a different forum thread. This one likely only attracts us sillies, and maybe not as many techies. Do ya' think? Where's Qsilv when you need her? She always seemed to have sound computer advice. Although, any advice would have to be given as if you were speaking to a blind and deaf 3 year old. Perhaps then I could comprehend it. Very simple, is what I mean. No words greater than 2 syllables.

For now, though, I am off to pick my son up from football practice and then venture out to watch a hockey game with our semi-pro team here in Boise. Tomorrow is a busy day. Championship playoff game in 12yo football, then the Big Basque Wedding (We affectionately call it the "Basquo fiasco") where I'm supposed to meet my future beau! I even took a vacation day for this, and made arrangements so I wouldn't have to drive, just in case I want to drink more than one alcoholic beverage at the open bar! I'll fill you all in on Sunday!

Robin regarding your cookie problem: in windows program go to 'tools' on the toolbar, click on 'internet options, open up 'privacy' tab. set the levelof privacy you wish to enable certain cookies mine is at medium. I do not suggest you allow all cookies nor block all cookies. either one of these options will cause problems though you do need some measure of privacy you do not want to deny yourself access to information

Baldur

Baldur has also been having an issue with playback, and viewing the pictures in anything but thumbnail format since I first mentioned my being logged off a couple weeks ago.
Thinkdraw has since been fairly good at keeping my account logged on, but I can rarely use playback now.
If I go to a picture's page I too get the word 'loading on a white background. Rarely it will finish loading, but the rectangle will remain white unless the playback button is pressed.
After playback the picture stays visible until leaving the page, then when I return once again the image is gone.
qwinnyb, Baldur went and checked his cookie settings and they were in the center of the bar. Electronic devices and Baldur have an unstable relationship.

If restarting doesn't work, you must update your windoddles & hoodwinks... (but everyone knows that)...

You apparently imagined that I wouldn't understand.
Baldur is at his upper limits of technobabble just by being able to sign onto the computer daily.

Oooops it looks like it's time for our totally unpredictable musical segment.
Tonight it is a song written by Robben Ford and famously performed by BB King and Eric Clapton on the incredible 'Riding with the King' album.
Tonight as a special treat the song will be transmitted directly into your minds by the Primrose Psychic Orchestra

'Help the Poor'

Help the poor
Won't you help poor me
Have a heart baby, won't you, baby
Listen to my plea
Need all your love
I need your care
I need all of the love
You can spare
Help the poor
Help poor me

Say you will
Say you'll help me on
I can't make it no further
This way alone
Lost all my courage
When I found you
Got what I needed
To see me through
Help the poor
Help poor me

You're my inspiration
You can make me a king
If you don't come to my rescue
I'll never be anything
Help the poor
Help poor me
Have a heart baby, won't you, baby
Listen to my plea
Need all your love
I need your care
I need all of the love
You can spare
Help the poor
Help poor me

Help the poor
Won't you help poor me
Have a heart baby, won't you, baby
Listen to my plea
Need all your love
I need your care
I need all of the love
You can spare
Help the poor
Help poor me

Gwinny, how kind of you to try to help me, and in such simple language, too! My toolbar doesn't have a "tools" icon, but I did find what you were referring to under settings. They did seem to all be set on medium, and even when I changed it a little, it didn't make any difference in viewing the gallery. Maybe it's not a cookies issue at all. I really have no idea. As long as I can still commisserate (10pts) on the forums and view the general gallery, it's ok. My computer at work does the same thing as far as trying to view individual pics or playbacks. Don't know what it is. Maybe my fingers have the touch of midas.

Off to bed now to prepare for my busy weekend. G'night, and thanks again.

Baldur

Baldur, two days later than anounced just went to the craft store and purchased a bag-o-beads.
How difficult should that be? But indeed one must be cautious. They have a marvelous wall with dangling strands of beads but cunningly mix strands of plastic, or it's doppelganger, acrylic, among the glorious glass, metal, stone and ceramic ones.
Baldur has his standards, low that they may seem at times, and will not buy plastic beads. Some are amazingly glasslike until you touch them.
By far the most employed here are glass. Though I have no qualms about using metal, ceramic or stone in the mix. But No NO NO plastic.

Baldur

Baldur purchased 3 tubes of seed beads in various shades of clear red, a hank of strands of seed beads in an opaque red glass that looks rather like coral, 2 different strands of a slightly larger flattened facet disc type in different deep shades of red, and one strand of small ruby glass coins edged in a bronze metallic finish.
Then despite saying to myself 'Self don't do it', I bought a strand of green beads. These will go in the future bead stash that was recently depleted.
They are small cubic beads of clear light green glass that contain different swirls of medium and deep green translucent glass. These are rather amazing and rather than risk not finding them again, I bought them.

Beads in general were on sale this week, but there were none at all on clearance. Too bad.

Baldur

Over the next few days Baldur should be able to use up the cobalt and the orangish beads, leaving just a few pearls and a quantity of assorted tiny amber. To that mix I will add the deluge of new red beads.
Most likely I will take down a couple of the early strands that could be reworked in a better fashion and add the red heavy new mixture to them.
All of today's beads are tiny compared to my earlier choices so if Baldur makes two strands out of each of the older ones by adding a quantity of seedbeads the effect will be better and more random.

What does Baldur use to string the beads? Plain string does not sound Baldurish (ten points). Yarns can be troublesome, so wondering what is Baldur's preferred medium. Also wondering if he uses the same colors for the string? And, are beads hung so sunlight might enhance the colors?

Baldur

Baldur hates to admit this but he uses dental floss.
While cleaning out my grandfather's house after he passed away we discovered dozens and dozens of packages of dental floss. It freaked my mother out (it doesn't take much to do that) and she insisted I take it all when I left.
This is not the type that Baldur personally uses, the type I prefer is a bit wider, looks more like ribbon than this.
Anyway when Baldur started beading I bought a spool of nylon monofilament, supposedly a strong medium. I hated it. There was no way Baldur could get a knot to stay in the damn stuff. Plus, most of my bead strands approach 4' in length which is a rather heavy amount of glass. The filament would stretch from the weight. leaving an inch or more of unbeaded filament at the top of each strand after a couple days. Quite annoying.
Then Baldur remembered the horde of dental floss and tried that.
It worked much better. It does still stretch a little over time, but not as badly as the nylon did. It knots beautifully too.

I'm not sure how long it will hold up but the oldest strands are 5+years old now.

The beads are strung with a large brass ring at the top. Baldur threads his drapery rods through the rings. Thus the area between the drapery panels is full of dangling strands. The sunlight pours through them.
All the strands are slightly different in length but the longest just reach the windowsills.
