Happy to join in "All Robin, some of the time!"
THANKS for the great limerick. Made me laugh out loud ... and darn it, I had to look up the meaning of nefarious. I'm blaming my medications ... even though I quit taking them. : )

While I'm trying to write my own limerick, may I submit the only one I've EVER been able to remember?

There once was a man from Cartoon,
Took a lesbian up to his room,
They argued all night
As to who had the right
To do what, and with which and to whom.

[And, I did check my "offensiveness meter" before this submission. It did not rate anywhere near as high as the risque talk about a certain man's under clothing! However, sincere apologies if I mis-read the meter!]

Ahhh, one of my favorite listeners, Marious, has phoned in! Marious, those last 2 posts are exactly what inspired me to wax poetic today! I, too, had to look up nefarious! I had heard the word, and liked that it rhymed and had the right number of syllables, so wanted to find a way to make it work, but wasn't quite sure of its meaning! LOL We are 2 of a kind, I fear!

And as for your own poetic contribution, I did not find it the least bit offensive, and in fact, thought it could possibly have been based on a true story!

From here on out, you are Hilarious Marious to me!

Just to be clear - I did not write the Cartoon limerick. Many years ago knew a man who could tell Limericks non-stop for hours. He has passed on, but at least I remembered one of his favorites, and mine!

But the following Limerick I did write:

I once knew a Robin D. Cradle
who dished out her jokes with a ladle.
When we asked her why,
She laughed in reply,
"I'd tell you but the answer is fatal."

Can't pass up a chance to have fun with limmericks, even if I'm not terribly good at them.

A woman named Robindcr8l
Used a spatula instead of a ladle
She used it on honey
When it wasn't too runny
And got her own cook show on cable

Ooo, I like yours better marius. (Fatal rhymes so much better than cable!)

Oh Dragon - I am laughing too hard - you can probably hear me all the way in Canada! Bravo - hands clapping merrily. And, poor Baldur - he is missing this!

Broccoli Leek Soup
serves 4

1 large bunch broccoli (about 1 1/2 pounds)
1 tbsp. olive oil
1 tbsp. unsalted butter ( I use margarine)
2 medium leeks, white and light green parts only, thinly sliced
1 medium baking potato, peeled and cut into 1-inch pieces
1 clove garlic, thinly sliced ( I use minced)
3 cups low-sodium chicken or vegetable broth (I use broth in the carton)
3/4 tsp. salt
Pinch freshly ground pepper
1/4 cup snipped chives

Separate broccoli stems from florets. Using a vegetable peeler, peel stems
to remove tough outer layer, then slice into 1/4 in. thick "coins". Break or
cut the florets into small pieces. Reserve stems and florets separately. In a medium saucepan, heat oil and butter over medium heat. Add leeks
and cook, stirring often, until softened and fragrant, about 3 minutes.
Add broccoli stems, potato, and garlic, and cook 2 to 3 minutes. Add
3 cups broth, salt and pepper; bring to a boil. Reduce heat; cover partially
and simmer until broccoli and potato are tender, about 12 minutes.
Add florets; bring to boil and then simmer 5 minutes. Transfer soup in
batches to a blender or food processor, and puree until smooth. Return
soup to saucepan and add chives and reheat briefly.

This soup is so delicious, I make it at least 2 or 3 times a month. I hope
you enjoy it Marius and anyone else who tries it!

Thank you indigo - gonna print that right now! Also, love the low-fat content which is rare to find when broccoli is in soups! Will let you know. Thanks again!

Sing to the tune of Three Dog Night's, "Joy to the World" ... or as *I* tend to think of it, ... the "Jeremiah was a Bullfrog" song!

D-ragon was not a bullfrog,
but was a big scaly beast!
We never understood a fiery word she breathed,
so we spun her and faced her east.

Ok I'm going to try a limerick!

There are all of these forums to post
All the things we want to boast
So I'm tipping my glass
To the one thats kick ass
With Robin who's sometimes a host!

LOL Belladonis! Awesome poetic talent showing up here today on Channel Robin (uh, I mean Baldur) I wonder if Baldur minds that I sometimes hijack his radio station!?? He seems like a gentle soul, so I am not afraid yet! If I were as creative minded as he is, I would start my own talk-radio show here on ThinkDraw, but it's much less responsibility to just occasionally hijack this one!

Most DeeJays have clever names. Robin D. Cradle fits, but I think while I am hosting, I will call myself Radio Robin! LOL

I can't wait to try indigo's soup recipe. I love finding new recipes with leeks, I just love them but can never think of how to use them. I'm also pleased to see that you use the stems of the broccoli too (their my favorite part!)

Also marius, LMAO at Dragon was not a bullfrog.

There was a fat lady from Pinner
Who ate too much toad for her dinner.
She went for weeks, just eating leaks
And now she's looking much thinner.

It came to pass he was covered in grass
