a picture of michael jackson : http://www.thinkdraw.com/picture.php?pictureId=161795 and a poem by michael jackson!

Breaking Free

All this hysteria, all this commotion

Time, space, energy are just a notion

What we have conceptualized we have created

All those loved, all those hated

Where is the beginning, where's the end

Time's arrow, so difficult to bend

Those broken promises, what they meant

Those love letters, never sent

Ode to my socks, by Pablo Neruda:
http://www.thinkdraw.com/picture.php?pictureId=161892
Mara Mori brought me
a pair of socks
which she knitted herself
with her sheepherder's hands,
two socks as soft as rabbits.
I slipped my feet into them
as if they were two cases
knitted with threads of twilight and goatskin,
Violent socks,
my feet were two fish made of wool,
two long sharks
sea blue, shot through
by one golden thread,
two immense blackbirds,
two cannons,
my feet were honored in this way
by these heavenly socks.
They were so handsome for the first time
my feet seemed to me unacceptable
like two decrepit firemen,
firemen unworthy of that woven fire,
of those glowing socks.

Nevertheless, I resisted the sharp temptation
to save them somewhere as schoolboys
keep fireflies,
as learned men collect
sacred texts,
I resisted the mad impulse to put them
in a golden cage and each day give them
birdseed and pieces of pink melon.
Like explorers in the jungle
who hand over the very rare green deer
to the spit and eat it with remorse,
I stretched out my feet and pulled on
the magnificent socks and then my shoes.

The moral of my ode is this:
beauty is twice beauty
and what is good is doubly good
when it is a matter of two socks
made of wool in winter.

No one around to hear my midnight cries
No matter what I do or what I say she thinks I’m telling lies
I’m stuck looking at these four blank walls
Twisting turning time ticking slowly
I look out my window to stare at the bright pale moon
Hoping that at any moment soon the sun will appear
To break me from this sentence of horror
No matter how much I try to escape the door seems to be further and further away
I don’t know how much more of this I can take
One of these days I will break free,
But it’s all just a dream, I’m sentenced to death
I don’t know about the rest
I sometimes feel my life is a jail cell

"Aus der Zeit wollt ihr einen Strom machen, an dessen Ufern ihr sitzt und zuschaut, wie er fließt.
Doch das Zeitlose in euch ist sich der Zeitlosigkeit des Lebens bewusst
Und weiß, dass Gestern nichts anderes ist, als die Erinnerung von Heute
und Morgen der Traum von Heute."

Khalil Gibran, Der Prophet

Yes, Normal, I though you would like Gibran.

In my imagination, time isnt that straight line forward, as it is usually seen, but more cyclic. A have drawn a flying bird, bc of the flight and the movement, but they also dont fly only in one direction.

Great poems...
Many things happens our days... It takes time to build but it takes more time to repair. Sometimes it´s too late, ant sometimes it´s just impossible, as it is in case of Humpty.

Humpty Dumpty
Humpty Dumpty sat on the wall;
Humpty Dumpty had a great fall,
All the Kings´s horses and all the King´s men,
Couldn´t put Humpty together again.

I am so happy to see the new additions to the challenge! I am catching up on everything, long hours at work:-(

Sandm you are making me work reading your poems which is great because when I put them in the translator it is like opening a present that you cant wait to see what is inside.

Jaybuddy you have really worked on this challenge, I am suprised, all of this coming from one so young keep up the good work and read, read, it is food for the heart and mind.

I really enjoyed "Ode to my Socks" Clorophilla. I could just see toes wiggling in warmth on a cold day!

I don't know any one who doesnt love Humpty Dumpty, thanks for the addition to the challenge!

Please keep them coming!

The "I love you flower" (based on the "flower of life", a six-pointed circle ... and the spherical geometry of the Universe)

Die Liebe

Die Liebe hemmet nichts;
sie kennt noch Tür und Riegel
und dringt durch alles sich;
sie ist ohn Anbeginn,
schlug ewig ihre Flügel
und schlägt sie ewiglich

(Matthias Claudius)

A coproduction:

and comment by Normal:That's the spirit! Marianne Williamson says,

"We are not held back by the love we didn't receive in the past, but by the love we're not extending in the present."

Another coproduction (I hope normal doesnt mind I put the referenced picture here in) and because Marianne Williamson was mentioned:)

“Our deepest fear is not that we are inadequate. Our deepest fear is that we are powerful beyond measure. It is our light, not our darkness that most frightens us. We ask ourselves, Who am I to be brilliant, gorgeous, talented, fabulous? Actually, who are you not to be? You are a child of God. Your playing small does not serve the world. There is nothing enlightened about shrinking so that other people won't feel insecure around you. We are all meant to shine, as children do. We were born to make manifest the glory of God that is within us. It's not just in some of us; it's in everyone. And as we let our own light shine, we unconsciously give other people permission to do the same. As we are liberated from our own fear, our presence automatically liberates others.” (Marianne Williamson)

Normal

Thank you sandm. New one from the Rubiyat of Omar Khayyam, verse LI, Fitzgerald translation:

The Moving Finger writes; and, having writ,
Moves on: nor all they Piety nor Wit
Shall lure it back to cancel half a Line,
Nor all thy Tears wash out a Word of it.
