.. uhhmm.. you've got a point there.. but what about the other suggestions ?

[ Qsilv ? - come back here, Qsilv ! .. that's chocolate I see in your hands, isn't it ?? now where did you get that from, here on Think Draw ? ]

Marg, I like actually like your suggestion for creating a new thread. We could just name the next one Thinkwrite#2 or something like that so that it would still be easy to look back, just you would know exactly which one you wanted to look back on. I'm not sure about turning this into a competition. Things on Thinkdraw have gotten so competitive with the voting that all people do is get angry. I like that this particular forum is just creative and not complaining. Just my opinion, though.

oh, no - sorry, Robin.. that wasn't what I meant.. I just thought it would be good if other people got to pick the words and length, rather than it always being Ron, and the best way of doing that seemed to be for the previous person to nominate the next 'chooser' !

That is a good idea, and might give Ron a break, in case this would become just another chore for him. It would divvy up the responsibility, so to speak. I just didn't want it to turn into something where if you call someone a "winner", someone else gets angry that they were a "loser". But now I see what you meant by it.

I'm happy with anything that keeps this thread going, I just love to see what everyone brings to the table. I don't think there's been a single contribution I didn't enjoy and there have been some that I downright LOVE!
I will admit, I find myself thinking of words or seeing them in a book and thinking 'Ooo, that would be an interesting one for the ThinkWrite challenge.'

I spoke to him for the first time last May. Until then, he had just been the quarterback, and I was just a fat girl with a camera. His muscles were strong and chiseled, whereas I shied away from anything that might be considered physical labor. I much preferred the worlds of science and art. His touchdown passes were flawless, and he was constantly surrounded by mini-skirt clad cheerleaders. I was mousy, clumsy, and generally surrounded by nothing but a cloud of insecurity. He was perfect and popular. I was awkward and ignored. Yet, somehow, we fell in love.

Marg:

Way back in Post # 55. 1 Apr 2009 16:29 I wrote:
"Someone Suggested a monthly thread. It could be a Mugdots-type challenge (No! No winners here...)

Just like TD get's to pick the themes and elements I think I might reserve the right to pick the word-list each month and set the length.

Comments welcome..."

I'm gonna stick to my guns here. I did say Login had "won" but only in my own sensibilities. There are NO WINNERS (or losers) in this forum...

I just picked my own fave.

I'm the nicest guy in the world but - just like Think Draw - I'm going to hold fast to the controls of this train and not give away the word-lists or the length.

Sorry (with a big smile )

Here's my entry for the latest round: 99 words.

“Condensate”

What?

What is he talking about?

I’m on a football scholarship; full ride. Heck. I was the freakin quarterback! But after the knee thing I’ve got to do this the hard way. At least until…

Bose-Einstein what?

God! I used to love football. Now! I just hate science.

I used to pose for the camera. I was adored.

Now I labor over – what?

What did he just say? He spoke. I know it.

Something about absolute zero; I guess that must be pretty cold.

Take some notes. Do something.

Man! I wish my knee wasn’t shot. I hate science!

Dang! I mis-copied that. The title should've been "Wish"...

I kinda like the title "Condensate", it really leads you into the story.

Dragon... Nice edit on that one. I just re-read my own story with the "wrong" title and you're right - it does work better. Go with your 1st instinct huh?

ROFL... ok, glad you're still popping up, dude. It's your ticket to being allowed to keep on picking the words in this little monster you've created. Disappear too long, tho, and you do realize it'll be kept alive by (in)subordinates.

Okay, here's my attempt. 99 words, minus the title. I enjoyed feeding the monster ;-)

“Love’s labours lost”

He threw a quarter back at me. I had asked for change, and this is what I got. To be fair, that is what had started our conversation. It was not until I had thrown the camera at him that he ended it with this gesture of intent misunderstanding. Apparently, we were now beyond talking. I noticed that he, the artist, flinged the coin gently, with an almost impassionate ease, while I, a woman of science and reason, had hatefully hurled his beloved working tool across the room. Non of us spoke yet, holding the words of reconciliation prisoner.

Ok, so after reading Ron's first post I wrote a story and came back to post it only to realize you had all moved on. I read km's story and felt I shouldn't read anymore as I'd have other people's thoughts running in my head.

Opps, there are currently 7 pages and I think I'm at least 3 word lists behind.

BTW, I did a real quick scan and I agree there is some real talent out there and it’s not all on the drawing side!

I'm posting mine anyway. Hey, better late than never, right?

This is the 200 word Think Write with the words:

Dolphin
Rascal
Aloof
Spear
White Toad
Random
Henceforth
Irresponsible
Toothache

He stood watching her, this aloof beauty. She was petite, lean. Today she wore a white sundress and she had a white toad lily in her long, dark hair. She was barefoot but he saw a pair of bright green slides sticking out of her tote. She stood astern, watching as a dolphin chased their wake. She looked tired, perhaps just a little sad. Was she alone on the cruise? Was she missing someone? For all he knew she was suffering a toothache and that was why she seemed to frown.
Random thoughts and questions kept shooting through his mind like a spear. She wasn’t the only pretty girl on the cruise, nor should he really have been noticing anyway, he had plenty of work to be doing. He was being irresponsible, the last time his boss had caught him watching her he’d promised that henceforth he’d keep to his duties but that rascal in him was fascinated by her, wanted to talk to her, make her smile. But no, not now, he had to get back to work.
She knew he watched her, but she wasn’t here to meet people, she’d come to get away, she’s come for herself.

This is great, solosater! I love the word "astern" and how you made the stylistic level fit with "henceforth". I think you have a very immediate way of writing, it draws you right in the situation. Also, I wonder how this continues.

I'm liking ALL this --but admit to a particular fondness for the insouciance in flinging the "quarter back"...

;>

137. 24 Apr 2009 07:18

marg

nah.. I reckon it's cheating - it was given as one word !

[however, this is only because I wanted to use 'quarter back' as in 'circle round behind', but my lofty principles wouldn't let me !]

Not sure about your megalomanic hold on this Ron - you're limiting everyone to the supposedly random thoughts in YOUR mind, and I'd really like to see other people's free thinking..

138. 24 Apr 2009 07:57

Marg - you are correct. And I'm not around too often lately (been working) so I'll throw this open to anyone at anytime. But be reasonable please. We cannot get a new word list/count every other hour.

And Marg... I tried, really tried to limit my imagination. I tried to do some pure free association limiting any on-the-spot analysis or editing. Of course - the words ome from my imagination per se - but hopefully without any organization or connection...

Everyone else - this stuff is amazing... Truly

Ron

Ron..

all I can say is thanks so much for starting this - I just love reading these amazing things people come up with !

I guess the reason I was pushing for other people to have a go (not me - my mind just comes up with 'paving stone', or something similar !), is because your FIRST list was just really bright and beautiful - everyone's imagination just seemed to run riot with that one - whereas the later ones seemed a bit less spontaneous.

You will, of course, have to remain as the final arbiter, even if someone else picks the words - and since you're such a woeful (wonderful and awful, rolled into one) cheat yourself, maybe you should retain some control ?

MugDots' challenge seems to be working pretty well - and I don't think that's as much about 'winners' as it is about giving everyone an idea to play with.. which is what you're doing, as well - so.. why not kick it off with a nomination for who chooses the next list, and let it run x days (whatever), before someone else picks the words ?

Thanks for not picking on my late entry. As to how it continues, I don't think it does. She's not looking, in a place by herself & content. He'll never forget her but she will move on and eventually so will he.

As to the Quarter back/ Quarterback thing I think it's doable, I found a white toad lily to use instead of having to put in an amphibian into my ocean going story, sometimes a little cheat makes the whole thing better.
