Thanks to Chrissyjoy for passing the baton to me. Nancylee made a comment on my pic that won the challenge, “The Dance,” that I thought was interesting. She said, “I am so impressed by folks who can do this negative space thing!” Wikipedia defines negative space as “the space around and between the subject(s) of an image. Negative space may be most evident when the space around a subject, and not the subject itself, forms an interesting or artistically relevant shape, and such space is occasionally used to artistic effect as the "real" subject of an image.”
I challenge you to use negative space to create subjects of your choice. Use any theme and any background to create your drawings and use all or partial negative space to create a subject or a relevant shape that might be the real subject.
This challenge will last for 2 weeks and the last day will be March 10th with a winner announced on the 11th.
Have fun, and forgive me oldtimers if this has been done before.
