Gwynnib, I like what you say. I just want to reconcile people.... feelings. Having a column in the menu next to Top 5 called Top Experts or Top Artists of all Times or Residents, Top Masters etc.
I think junior TDers should also have a special reward. If they get to Top 5 the first month, then that's OK. However, if they don't there could be a category for newcomers.

how about a viewing category like 'master work', 'expert', 'resident artist, or 'venerable contributer'..some honorable title for those who have been in top 5 say 5 times. they obviously march to the beat of a more talented drummer. their art could be exhibited and appreciated separately by pulling up a special category, wher dispayed art changed on say a monthly basis. other artists not as talented, or experienced, or as popular, or whatever would not compete with these special ones. Joe the plumber would not have to be judged with Michaelangelo, or DaVinci., yet if a new Picasso appeared he would eventually rise to the top and have resident expert status.
the experts amazing art would be visible, notable, and could be easily accessed and checked up on. they could offer their own monthly picture that they feel is their top effort without having to suffer thru a distorted rating system that frustrated time and time again.
it would be an earned system that would remove the mundane competition from the sublime creation and allow artists to create on a similar level yet allow those of different ability to be discovered and recognised. I think it might soothe many of the hard feelings we see coming foreward so frequently. what do you all think?

This site is very popular with all fantastic drawers. So even though I'm new, and not very good at this, may I suggest that just one drawing per person be submitted to the case. I have noticed some persons submit several and maybe just one nice one would be better. But its only a suggestion:>

This is to answer Marg and of course everybody else who reads this. I wanted to see people get along well here.
On the one hand people like Matthew or Luna (for example last month) who with their talent get two, three , five or whatever number of pictures would feel that all their work is being thrown away and is not shown in Top 5 if we could only choose one pic per medium and per person. Therefore I would say they should have their pics exhibited LIKE NOW because they deserve it.
On the other hand other people who can never get to Top 5 because "some are so talented" or whatever reasons , but who are definitely VERY GOOD can feel discouraged if their pics CAN NEVER GET TO TOP 5 especially when there is the other problem of the voting system.
My proposal was:
if someone gets 2,3,4 or 5 pics (because of votes due to talent) he/she can be in the Top 5 but that month instead of 5 pics in a given medium there would be 6,7,8 ,9 or at most 10.
.After all there would never be more than 10 pics per medium and I think there will usually be maybe only 6 or 7.
