the original authentic recipe from Havana Cuba
From: http://www.tasteofcuba.com/mojito.html

1 teaspoon powdered sugar
Juice from 1 lime (2 ounces)
4 mint leaves

1 sprig of mint
Havana Club white Rum (2 ounces)
2 ounces club soda

There are countless recipes for the Mojito (pronounced moh-HEE-toh), but this version is for the one Hemingway himself enjoyed at the Mojito's place of birth: La Bodeguita del Medio in Havana, Cuba. If you are throwing a Cuban theme party (Havana night themed party), definitely plan on serving mojitos.

Place the mint leaves into a long mojito glass (often called a "collins" glass) and squeeze the juice from a cut lime over it. You'll want about two ounces of lime juice, so it may not require all of the juice from a single lime. Add the powdered sugar, then gently smash the mint into the lime juice and sugar with a muddler (a long wooden device pictured below, though you can also use the back of a fork or spoon if one isn't available). Add ice (preferably crushed) then add the rum and stir, and top off with the club soda (you can also stir the club soda in as per your taste). Garnish with a mint sprig.

A girlfriend of mine from Trinidad made this for me once, it tastes somewhat like really strong coffee with cream & sugar.

Guinness Punch Recipe

Ingredients
12 oz Guinness Stout
1/6 tsp Cinnamon
1/6 tsp Nutmeg
1/2 cup Condensed Milk
Unsweetened Cocoa (optional)

Directions
Gently pour a well-chilled Guinness into a small mixing bowl or glass that will hold all of the liquid ingredients. Add the sweetened condensed milk, spices, and cocoa (if it's wanted). Stir or whisk well, and pour the mixture into a pint-sized beer mug or pub glass. Makes 1 drink.

One of my abslolute fav's is Rum and Coke made with Sailor Jerry spiced rum (other rums pale in comparison, even if you don't like rum you'll probably like Sailor Jerry's)

In a large glass pour 2 fingers of rum
Add a generous lime wedge, one can of Coke and 2 ice cubes. If done right this should just fill the glass.

Oh, and a good one for summer is the Paloma

2 oz tequila
6 oz grapefruit soda
Juice from 1/2 a lime
Stirred over ice

Very tasty and they go down real easy!

I'm not a fan of rum and coke (not a fan of coke, and pepsi shouldn't be adulterated) but this Paloma sounds real nice, refreshing.

That's what I like about the Mojito, very refreshing.

I also had a Pomegranate Mojito which as far as I could tell was a regular Mojito with about 1/4 cup of pomegranate juice added, yum!

Login, you must have lots of fun being the designated driver. I can't drink much now because of my meds so I get to see my friends gettin' just a little tipsy, sometimes more so, that can be fun to watch. It can also be kinda' sad to watch; who would think we could behave so badly?

When I can't drink alcohol I actually like the Virgin Paloma (which of course is simply Grapefruit soda with fresh lime squeezed in it) I never would have thought to combine those 2 things if it hadn't been for the Paloma but they make a nice refreshing summer drink even without the Tequila.

Right! As the designated driver, I want you all to stand still and listen! Now, I've loaded my 10 flasks of cool spring water into the boot (that's a trunk to you). Solosater, I want you to raise the bonnet (hood, HOOD!) and check the oil level ... use the dipstick. Lilalee, you check the water level in the radiator. Dragon, take this cranking handle and stick it in that hole under the bumper (fender, FENDER) and swing it to start the engine ... be very careful that it doesn't swing over and hit your arm when the engine fires. Now, each of you load your own favourite drinks into the boot (trunk) alongside mine. Who's got the pic-nic basket (hamper)? Good, place that in the boo ... trunk... and someone fetch a torch (lamp). Ah... plenty of petrol (gas). All pile into the car ... are we ready? Where's the party and who's got the map? Excellent! Synchronise watches ... after 3 ... THREE and off we go. ♫ ♪"I took my harp to a party and nobody asked me to play ...." ♪ ♫

I'm always the designated driver, cos i dont drink either. I like, depending on my mood, a nice freshly squeezed orange and pineapple juice (without bits), a lemon lime and orange mineral water, or a hot chocolate with marshmallows... mmmm
